Supporting African Relief - Philosophy
Our core philosophy is that real solutions for local problems should be provided by the local people themselves. Our task is to empower them and to actively listen to their concerns. We will provide the support they need in order to reinforce their own structures rooted in their cultural heritage. We aim to achieve an increased recognition of diversity and sustainable development.
The Hummingbird Foundation
One day there was a big fire burning in the forest and all of the animals were running and flying away as fast as they could. They were all very scared and feared for their lives, except for one tiny hummingbird that was flying to and from a nearby lake. Over and over the hummingbird flew down to the lake, took a drop of water into its mouth and flew back to the burning forest and dropped the water out of its mouth onto the fire.
A hawk flying far overhead could not believe what he was seeing so he flew over to the hummingbird and said: "What are you doing you stupid bird, do you think you will actually put out the fire with your small drops of water?"
The hummingbird looked over at the hawk and replied: "No! I do not think that I will put the fire out, but at least I will have played my part."
The Hummingbird symbolises the spirit of African Tiger and pays tribute to the countless men and women who, without seeking recognition or fame, play their part to make a difference in their communities all over the world.
You too can play your part and make a difference!
